1) Redmi Note 9 Pro

Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi’s Note 9 Pro is the latest addition to the brand Note line-up. This phone is the best Mi phone under 15000 that you can buy today. Due to its affordable price tag, the Note 9 Pro does not offer the dazzling features that today’s flagship offers, but that is because the main emphasis of this phone is on its core specifications and overall user experience.

Build Quality and Design – Weighing 209gm and measuring 8.8mm in thickness, the Note 9 Pro is quite a bulky phone by any standards. But Xiaomi’s new Aura Balance design makes the external design symmetrical and evenly distributes its weight throughout the phone’s body.

The phone is available in three simple yet elegant colors, Interstellar Black, Glacier White, and Aurora Blue. The most distinctive feature of this phone is its new hole-punch selfie camera, which is placed on the top-center of the screen.

Since the front and back of the phone is built using Gorilla Glass 5, and the frame is polycarbonate, the Mi Note 9 is a highly durable phone. The phone looks quite modern and defies all expectations for a phone in this price category.

This phone’s fingerprint sensor is embedded in its power button. However, the volume buttons placed above the sensor are difficult to reach. There is also a charging LED in the earpiece.

The Mi Note 9 Pro has two Nano Sim slots and a microSD card slot. Its speaker is placed on the bottom, next to its 3.5mm audio jack. The phone charges via USB Type C. It also has a P2i coating for splash resistance, but obviously, you cannot expect an IP certification at this price.

Processor and RAM – The Note 9 Pro features the Snapdragon 720G chipset that is manufactured on an 8nm process. Therefore, this phone is more power-efficient and dissipates less heat than its predecessors.

The phone comes in two RAM and storage variants. You can either get the variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage or get the one with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone runs on Android 10 with a custom MIUI 11 skin on top of it.

The Mi Note 9 Pro is capable of efficiently handling all your essential functions and even heavy 3D gaming. Even the multitasking is smooth and lag-free.

Display – The Mi Note 9 Pro features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080-2400 pixels. It also has a tall 20:9 aspect ratio to accommodate its front camera. This phone does not have a high refresh rate panel, but most people cannot tell the difference anyway. High refresh rate displays also take a significant toll on battery life.

Camera – This latest line-up to Xiaomi’s Note line-up features a quad camera setup. It has a 48-megapixel primary camera with an aperture of f/1.79 and uses the new Samsung Isocell GM2 Sensor.

It has an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera that offers decent image quality. It also has a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 5-megapixel macro camera.

The camera takes high-quality 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps video and has an improved night mode for photo and video. It also has a 16-megapixel front camera and takes excellent selfies.

The image quality of the camera for daytime photography is excellent, but not exceptional. But low light photography during the night results in unimpressive images. The macro camera has much better image quality than most of its competitors.

Battery – This phone has a massive 5020mAh battery that can easily get you through a day and a half before needing to charge it. When playing HD videos on a loop, the phone offers an excellent battery life of over 16 hours. It does not, however, have any fast charging features.

Key Features

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Processor
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 4/6 GB RAM
  • 64/128GB Internal Storage
  • 6.67-inch Full HD+ Display
  • 5020 mAh Battery
  • 48MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP Rear Camera & 16MP Front Camera

Verdict – The Mi Note 9 Pro has an excellent design and is pushing the limits with its amazing specifications. This phone offers incredible value for money and is the best Mi phone under 15000.

Pros

  • Fast Processor
  • Good Display
  • Great Battery Life
  • High-Quality Macro Camera
  • Good Daytime Photography

 Cons

  • Bulky Design
  • Poor Low Light Image Quality

2) Redmi Note 8 Pro

Redmi Note 8 Pro

Last year, the Mi Note 7 Pro offered outstanding performance and impressive cameras at a very aggressive price. So naturally, the fans had high expectations from the Mi Note 8 Pro, which was released later in the year. Xiaomi claims that the Note 8 Pro is significantly better than its predecessor in every measurable way.

Build Quality and Design – In terms of design, the Note 8 Pro has improved upon the Note 7 Pro’s design in many ways. It has a bigger display than its predecessor, and even the thickness of the bottom bezel is reduced.

On the left side, the phone has two trays. One has a Nano Sim slot, and the other one has the second Nano Sim slot and a microSD card slot. The power button is positioned well, but the volume buttons can be difficult to reach. This issue was not present in the Mi Note 7 Pro.

The front and back of the phone is made out of Gorilla Glass 5, making it highly durable. The fingerprint sensor is placed into the raised camera module, which can feel uncomfortable at first, but you will get used to it.

The primary microphone, speaker, and the USB Type C port are placed on the bottom. The secondary microphone and IR blaster are housed at the top.

Processor and RAM – With the Note 8 Pro, Xiaomi has gone with the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. This processor is rivaling the Snapdragon 730G chipset. This phone does not get hot even under load, thanks to Xiaomi’s dual pyrolytic sheets and liquid cooling technologies.

Its RAM is where the Mi Note 8 Pro even outshines its successor. The Note 8 Pro’s base variant has 6GB of RAM, whereas, the Note 9 Pro’s base model only has 4GB of RAM. The Note 8 Pro has two storage variants, 64GB and 128GB.

The storage is expandable up to 512GB using the microSD card slot. If you go with the top variant of this phone, you can get up to 8GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie with a custom MIUI skin on top of it.

There was no lag on this device even under heavy load, and it was able to multitask efficiently without killing apps in the background. It also offers excellent gaming performance.

Display – The Note 8 Pro has a 6.53-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It has vivid colors and HDR support. With a maximum brightness of 500 nits, it gets sufficiently bright. It has a tall aspect ratio of 20:9.

Camera – While the Note 7 Pro only had two cameras, the Note 8 Pros has four. It has a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 aperture. The second sensor is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The new additions to the camera setup are the 2-megapixel depth sensor and the 2-megapixel macro lens.

The phone also has a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The daylight photos taken with this phone are sharp and have great detail. Its low light performance can be some graining at times, but the overall performance is quite decent.

The new macro lens is an excellent addition to the phone, but it lacks detail. You can also shoot high-quality 4K footage with the primary rear camera. However, the video quality in low light was not that great.

Battery –  This phone has a massive 4500mAh battery that can easily get you through a day before needing to charge it. When playing HD videos on a loop, the phone offers an excellent battery life of over 14 hours. It also comes with an 18W fast charger in the box, which charges the phone up to 62 percent in an hour.

Key Features

  • MediaTek Helio G90T Processor
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 6/8 GB RAM
  • 64/128GB Internal Storage
  • 6.53-inch Full HD+ Display
  • 4500 mAh Battery
  • 64MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP Rear Camera| 20MP Front Camera

Verdict – The Mi Note 8 Pro now has a successor, but the phone still has more RAM and better camera performance. The Note 8 Pro is just as good a buy as the Note 9 Pro. However, the lack of a Snapdragon Processor could be a dealbreaker for some buyers. But the Note 8 Pro still remains one of the best Redmi phones under 15000.

Pros

  • Exceptional Performance
  • Amazing Camera Performance
  • Great Build Quality
  • Good Battery Life
  • Bright Display

Cons

  • Poor Low Light Video Performance
  • No Snapdragon Processor

3) Mi A3

Mi A3

The Mi A3 is an exceptional phone. This phone is part of Xiaomi’s A-series, which consists of the only phones made by Xiaomi that are a part of Google’s Android One program. One of the biggest things that fans dislike about Xiaomi’s phones is MIUI. But this phone has Google’s stock Android operating system instead of Xiaomi’s MIUI.

Build Quality and Design – The Mi A3 has a really solid build quality and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on both the back and front. The same highly durable glass protects even its camera. This phone does an excellent job of resisting scratches from everyday use.

Its side bezels are quite thin, but the ones on the top and bottom are thicker. Its waterdrop notch selfie camera is housed in its top bezel. It is available in three color options, Not Just Blue, More Than White, and Kind of Grey. These names are clearly inspired by Google’s Pixel line-up.

The loudspeaker is placed next to its USB Type C port on the bottom. Its 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the top. The power and volume buttons are on the right side of the phone and are easy to reach. Its dual Sim tray is on the left. Its fingerprint sensor is placed slightly below the camera module.

Processor – The Mi A3 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 and comes in two variants, a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and another one with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

This phone was able to run apps without any lag or stutter. Multitasking is very efficient with the 6GB variant, but with the 4GB variant, we experienced that it killed some apps in the background. Though you can use this phone for gaming, you cannot play heavy 3D games at maximum graphics settings.

Display – The Mi A3 has a 6.08 HD + display with a resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels. Though the display is not Full HD, the phone uses an AMOLED display, which offers an incredible viewing experience. But since the pixel density is less than 300ppi, you will be able to see some pixelation while reading text.

Camera – The Mi A3 offers some really great cameras for its price. It has a triple camera setup, and the primary lens is a 48-megapixel camera that uses the premium Sony IMX586 that was used in many flagship phones last year.

It has an 8-megapixel secondary camera with a wide-angle lens. Its third camera is a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It also has a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies.

Photos taken during the daytime are sharp and have good details. But when using HDR, the phone is not able to properly adjust the contrast of the images. The wide-angle lens will help you capture a wider field of view to help you see images from a new perspective. However, wide-angle photos lack detail.

Macro photography on this phone is not great, but low light photography is surprisingly good. Using night mode, you will be able to click detailed photos even in low light environments. The image quality of the front camera is also high. It detects edges well and takes good pictures, even in low light.

Battery – The Mi A3 has a 4030mAh battery, and it offers great battery life and is a significant jump compared to the Mi A2. When playing HD videos on a loop, it gave a battery life of over 16 hours. With the Mi A3, you can go up to 2 days without needing a charge. This phone supports 18W wireless charging, but the charger does not come in the box.

Key Features

  • Snapdragon 665 Processor
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 4/6 GB RAM
  • 64/128GB Internal Storage
  • 6.08-inch HD+ AMOLED Display
  • 4030 mAh Battery
  • 48MP + 8MP + 2MP Rear Camera| 32MP Front Camera

Verdict – The Mi A3 offers an elegant design, good performance, and camera quality, but it has reduced the display resolution down a notch. Nevertheless, it still is a fantastic phone, and if you want a stock Android experience, the Mi A4 is the best Redmi phone under 15000.

Pros

  • Elegant Design
  • Good Build Quality
  • Premium Camera Sensor
  • Good Camera Performance
  • Outstanding Battery Life
  • Fast Performance

 Cons

  • Low Display Resolution
  • Poor HDR
  • Slow Auto Focus

4) Redmi Note 8

Redmi Note 8

If you like the Mi Note 8 Pro, but it is a little over your budget, then the Note 8 is the phone you should have your eyes on. Since it is priced lower than the Note 8 pro, you cannot expect it to do everything that the Note 8 Pro does, but it does check off almost all the boxes.

Build Quality and Design – While the phone’s design is a little bit like the Note 8 Pro, it is more resemblant to the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A that was released recently. Its build quality is solid, thanks to the front and back of the phone being protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The phone has a waterdrop notch at the top with the notification LED next to it. Its bottom bezel is quite thick and has the Redmi logo. But unlike the Note 8 Pro and Redmi 8, the camera module of this phone is placed on the corner.

The speaker and the 3.5mm audio jack are on the bottom, next to the USB Type C port. It also has a hybrid dual Sim plus microSD card slot on the left. The fingerprint sensor is under the camera module and is easy to reach. But the volume buttons on the right side of the phone are a little difficult to reach.

Processor and RAM – The Mi Note 8 features the Snapdragon 665 processor and has two RAM and storage variants. One has 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and the other has 6GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage.

The UI of this phone runs very smoothly, and there are no hiccups even when multitasking. But if you are going to play heavy 3D games like PUBG, you will have to set the graphic quality to low or medium, any more than that, and your gameplay will suffer. This phone runs on Android 9 with a custom MIUI 10 skin on top of it.

Display – The Note 8 has a sharp 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280. It is an IPS panel, and it gets sufficiently bright, but its color reproduction is not very good. It is also certified by TUV Rheinland for blue light reduction. At this price point in 2020, this is as good as your display can get.

Camera – It is in the camera department where the Note 8 outshines its competitors. It has a quad-camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.79. It has an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The overall image quality of the primary camera is quite impressive. It produces sharp and detailed images. However, the macro, ultra-wide, and low light images lack quality and can be a little grainy.

The primary camera can also record high-quality 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps video. But the phone’s autofocus is a little dodgy, and even video stabilization is poor. The 1080p videos look great, but 4K videos show oversaturated colors. Its 13-megapixel front camera has average image quality.

Battery – The Mi Note 8 has a 4000mAh battery that delivers up to 13 hours of battery life when playing HD videos on a loop. It also comes with an 18W fast charger in the box that charges it to 81 percent in just one hour.

Key Features

  • Snapdragon 665 Processor
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 4/6 GB RAM
  • 64/128GB Internal Storage
  • 6.3-inch Full HD+ Display
  • 4000 mAh Battery
  • 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2 MP Rear Camera| 16MP Front Camera

Verdict – The Mi Note 8 is built well, has a good display, excellent battery life, and a fast processor. No other phone in this price category will give you this much value for money. The Mi Note 8 is one of the best Redmi mobile under 15000.

Pros

  • Great Display
  • Good Battery Life
  • Fast Charging
  • Sharp Photos from the Primary Camera

 Cons

  • Average Camera Performance
  • Not Suitable for Gaming

5) Redmi Note 7 Pro

Redmi Note 7 Pro

You must be thinking right now that the Note 7 Pro was released in early 2019, not only does it have a successor, but even its successor has a successor. Let us find out if the Mi Note 7 Pro is still a good buy in mid-2020.

Build Quality and Design – Thanks to its Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and the back, the Note 7 Pro has a solid build quality. Not only does this phone’s design move far away from the huge notch that was very popular in 2018, but its waterdrop notch makes it look like one of the phones that were released this year.

The phone’s glossy back panel attracts a lot of smudges, and even its camera bump is massive. Unless you are going to use a case, you will have to live with this. The phone also has a P2i hydrophobic nano-coating to protect it against accidental splashes of water.

The fingerprint sensor is located below the camera module. The power and volume buttons on the right side of the phone are tactile and easy to reach. It has a 3.5mm audio jack and an IR emitter on the top. The USB Type C port and speaker are on the bottom.

Processor and RAM – The Note 7 Pro was way ahead of its time, and its hardware is even better than some of the phones that are coming out today. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 and can be paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.

The phone performs really well for any regular task, and there are no stutters. Even with more than ten apps in the background, switching between them was seamless. Even demanding games such as PUBG and Asphalt 9 can be played at high graphics.

The phone runs on Android 9 with a custom MIUI skin on top of it. Even its fingerprint sensor and face unlock mechanisms are very quick. When it comes to performance, this phone will not disappoint you.

Display – The Mi Note 7 Pro has a 6.3-inch Full HD + display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The phone has a vibrant, color-accurate, and sharp display, which offers an incredible viewing experience. It has a pixel density of 409ppi and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It also gets sufficiently bright.

Camera – This phone only has a dual-camera setup, while most recent phones have at least three cameras. However, this phone’s camera has received a lot of praise. In fact, at its launch event, Xiaomi even compared this phone’s cameras to the iPhone XS Max.

The primary camera is a 48-megapixel sensor, which uses the premium Sony IMX586 that was used by several flagships last year. It also has a secondary 5-megapixel depth sensor and a 13-megapixel front camera.

The camera takes excellent close up shots, and all photos are vibrant, sharp, and have a high dynamic range. Sometimes, the contrast in the images is a little off, but the Note 7 Pro’s camera is still one of the best in this price range. It can shoot Full HD videos at a resolution of 1080p, and the front camera also takes sharp and color-accurate photos.

Battery – This phone has really impressive battery life. Its 4000mAh battery lasts over 19 hours when playing HD videos in a loop. The phone supports fast charging, but the fast charger does not come in the box. The charger in the box gives the phone a full charge in 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Key Features

  • Snapdragon 675 Processor
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 4/6 GB RAM
  • 64/128GB Internal Storage
  • 6.3-inch Full HD+ Display
  • 4000 mAh Battery
  • 48MP + 5MP Rear Camera| 13MP Front Camera

Verdict – Though you may feel that this phone is over a year and a half old, but it was a phone that was ahead of its time. Even today, it can still give a tough fight to many costlier phones that have been released recently. The Mi Note 7 Pro is one of the best Mi mobile under 15000.

Pros

  • Outstanding Battery Life
  • Great Design
  • Excellent Camera Performance
  • Fast Processor
  • Fast Charging

 Cons

  • Buggy Software
  • Heats Up Quickly

This concludes LogicalShout’s list of the best Mi phone under 15000 in India. A lot of research and trials were conducted before making this list. Therefore, all three phones on this list are the latest and the greatest Mi phones that you can buy today.
